Little Axe Health Center Expansion
Norman, OK
OWNER
Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health Systems
The Little Axe Health Center Expansion demonstrates the Absentee Shawnee Tribe’s commitment to expanding healthcare access and enhancing community well-being. Originally opened in 2012, the facility underwent a major renovation and addition with Connect Advisors serving as Owner’s Representative, ensuring the project delivered on both functionality and cultural priorities. The expansion introduced additional treatment rooms, increased exam and office space, and significantly upgraded the pharmacy and support areas to streamline patient services.
Designed to improve efficiency for staff while creating a more welcoming environment for patients, the project enhances care across multiple specialties, including family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, dental, behavioral health, and more. The updated facility also incorporates culturally affirming design elements, reflecting the Tribe’s values and commitment to healing. A dedicatory ribbon-cutting featured traditional blessings, community performances, and tribal leadership, underscoring the project’s importance to the region. Today, the expanded center provides state-of-the-art care while reinforcing the Tribe’s long-term investment in health sovereignty and operational excellence.
